The Three-Body Problem

Written by Cixin Liu and translated into English by Ken Liu

Review
★★★★☆

I found the beginning of the Three-Body Problem to be captivating as the reader is first thrust into the Chinese cultural revolution and then follows the perspective of Wang Miao as he tries to make sense of the events unfolding around him and how both he and humanity’s place in the universe is altered by what he learns. For me, the ending was a bit of a let down as the unknown was replaced with inevitability in the face of omnipotence.

Carrying this book around in public caused two different people to stop and chat with me about it. The first really enjoyed it and asked what I thought of how much I had read at the time. I hadn’t read more than 50 pages at the time so the conversation didn’t progress further. The other individual called it “That weird book” and mentioned they only read ~1/3 of it before they stopped reading it.

If you’re interested in reading it you can find it here.
